I am a licensed mental health professional but, you are a unique and irreplaceable human being. I highly encourage my readers to gain knowledge and inspiration from this space but seek face to face help with a therapist when dealing with mental health issues that seem overwhelming.
If you are currently struggling with suicidal thoughts please contact your local crisis services or the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255 for support in getting through this challenging time.
Ashley Rodrigues, MS, LPC, RYT
I’m Ashley. I am a licensed mental health therapist and a yoga instructor by trade, but I am also a new mom, wife, dancer/choreographer, writer and total foodie. Like any new mom, I love strong coffee and spend most of my day laughing as I fumble through motherhood. I am an artist living in a science world and still trying to figure out exactly how these two worlds blend together. My personal goal as a writer, teacher and therapist is to be authentic, relatable and gracious with everyone I encounter.
As for the professional stuff…
I graduated from the Conservatory of Dance at the University of Missouri- Kansas City with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree (Go Roos!) . I danced in New York City for a year with the Joffrey and soon after decided I wanted to dedicate my career to helping others. I graduated from a CACREP accredited Masters program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Niagara University. During my Masters program I fell in love with yoga and received my 200 hr yoga certification with Free Life People in Fort Worth, Texas. I am currently licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas and a registered yoga instructor.
My philosophy in treatment…
I am a believer in the mind/ body connection and spend time in both yoga sessions and counseling sessions incorporating the benefits of mindfulness, self awareness and guided meditation. I believe that although our pasts have played a great role in who we are as people today, that the future hopeful and often determined by how we choose to author our future narrative. I like to spend time in counseling sessions (and yoga classes) focusing on the present and most importantly cultivating inspiration for the future.
I specialize working with adults who may be coping with:
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Sexual Trauma
- Personal Insecurities
- Post Pardum Depression
- Generalized Anxiety
- Social Anxiety
- Self Confidence
